Meta-analysis refers to the use of statistical techniques in a systematic review to integrate the results of included studies. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) Statement 1 adopted the definition used by Cochrane Group 2 which defines systematic review as a review of a clearly formulated question that uses systematic and explicit methods to identify, select and critically appraise relevant research, and to collect and analyse data from the studies that are included in the review. Systematic review with meta-analysis has become an important research tool for the health research literature which synthesises evidence from individually conducted studies that assess the same outcomes on the same topic. ![]()
